However, a Sikh should merely take Amrit when he or she is mature plenty to recognize the nature of the duties he or she has chosen to accept. Marriage Ceremony The Sikh matrimony is called Anand Karaj which means the ceremonial of joy. The Sikh nuptials is held in the forenoon in a Gurdwara. The bridegroom will be dressed in all right apparels and accompanied by his household and friends. Then he reaches the Gurdwara Sahib where the bride s relations and friends receive them. After the Milni ceremonial ( close relations of the twosome garland each other in a spirit of good will ) and refreshments, everyone enters the Gurdwara fold hall where bride sits alongside the bridegroom confronting the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. A short supplication is said and so the nuptials ceremonial begins and the Ragees sing the anthem of Palla which is bridegroom s scarf. The bride s male parent gives the Palla into the custodies of bride which is symbolic of giving away the bride. This is followed by Lavaan , the nuptials ceremonial. It consists of four poetries. The first poetry is recited by the Granthi while the twosome sits. Then the Ragees sing the same po etry and the twosome walk gracefully clockwise around the Guru Granth Sahib the bride following the bridegroom. Same manner the other three poetries are recited. The six poetries of Anand Sahib ( the anthem of joy ) are so sung followed by the Ardas. Order of the twenty-four hours is read from Guru Granth Sahib Ji followed by the distribution of Karah Parshad. Lunch is provided by the bride s household. Normally a response is held subsequently in the eventide in a hall. Funeral/Death Ceremony Normally, this ceremonial is really simple. When a Sikh dies, the organic structure is first washed and dressed with new apparels. Then it is carried to the cremation land in emanation so appropriate supplications are said before the funeral pyre. After that, it is lit by close relations. In Britain a crematory built for this intent is used. Later, the cooled ashes will be collected and immersed into or presented to natural running water- a river. To finish the ceremonial, so either in the place or in the Gurdwara, the day-to-day reading of the Holy Granth begins. This takes approximately 10 yearss. When all the 1430 pages have been read, the concluding service is held. Relatives and friends gather to fall in in the concluding supplications. The Kara Parshad ( holy nutrient ) is served and the people disperse. This marks the terminal of bereavement. Harmonizing to Sikhism, when a miss attains adulthood, it is incumbent upon her parents to look for a suited lucifer for her. It is neither desirable nor proper to get married a miss at stamp age. The girl of a Sikh should be given in matrimony to a Sikh. If a adult male is a Sikh truster, is low by nature, and earns his staff of life by honest agencies, with him marriage may be contracted without a inquiry and without consideration for wealth and wealths. Sikh matrimonies are normally arranged. The people from other civilizations do non ever decently construe the word arranged . An ordered matrimony does non intend coercing adult male or adult female into marriage of parents pick merely. It is holding to marriage proposed by common treatment between the adult male s and the adult female s household. This is to choose the right spouse with the blessing of all. Most significantly, the adult male and adult female themselves must acquire to cognize each other to convey their consent to their parents. No Sikh matrimony is regarded as genuinely complete unless the bride and groom present themselves before the Holy Granth and are blessed by the Guru, every bit good as by the fold or the households present.

Why does John reject the civilization represented in Brave New World Research Paper Example

Why does John reject the civilization represented in Brave New World Research Paper Example Why does John reject the civilization represented in Brave New World Paper Why does John reject the civilization represented in Brave New World Paper Essay Topic: Back in the World Stories Brave New World Literature John comes from an Indian reservation in New Mexico, and goes to the Brave New world with Bernard Marx who was about to be sent away from there because he was different. Bernard and Lenina brought John because they knew that John was the son of the Director of Hatcheries and Conditioning with Linda. This would humiliate the Directory because having viviparous babies in the Brave New World was seen as disgusting, and no one would ever imagine that the director could have had one himself. John was not accepted in the savage reservation because his mother slept with many men, this was seen as an absurd, but in the Brave New World it was not, Every one belongs to everyone else; having sex with many different people was a moral duty. John was fascinated by the prospect of going to the Brave New World because his mother told him that in the Brave New World people never had problems, because even if they had they would take a drug called Soma, which would make them take a holiday from reality and forget all about them. He was also told about how people travelled by helicopter and he thought that they could really fly. He learned how to read and right superficially, how everything is clean and that no one marries, that there are no nasty smells, that there were boxes where you could see and hear what was happening at the other side of the world and that babies were born in lovely clean bottles He thought that The Other Place was a perfect world, The happiest times were when she told him about the Other Place, such as in Shakespeares stories, which he had read and loved. Unfortunately John had too many high expectations, which were all let down. John had heard so much about the Brave New World, that he was unimpressed when he was taken the Charing T tower and saw the weather department captive balloon. He found it nice, Still, Ariel could put a girdle around the earth in forty minutes, but nothing compared to the greater things he had read about which were done in plays. One of the reasons why John rejected the Brave New World was because of his background. John came from two different places, one of which his mother creates for him; where there are civilized people and modern technology; and the world of the savages where he is considered an outcast and she a whore. John rejects the simplicity of the Brave New World, because things were not as in the Shakespeares stories which he had read, they were much easier. He thinks that without suffering there can be no triumph and with out going through the pain and hardship of a task there can be no proper taste of conquering. John did not like that everything in the Brave New World was not expensive enough, and that everything is conveyed easily for them. He hated the fact that the people valued nothing such as in the Shakespeares stories. John finds the people of the civilized world ridiculous because of the easy way of their life, and despises the fact that they take the drug soma and do not notice that the world has enslaved them all, that horrible film it was ignoble; this is why when he goes to the feelies with Lenina, he hates it and returns home. Huxley makes apparent in his writing that the civilized world is a failure and a disgrace to all man kind. He shows us this by his choice of vocabulary to describe some adults playing a foolish game, and uses the word maggots to explain his views, The green was maggoty with fore-shortened life. He could have used any other word such as an ant, but he does not, because he wants us to think the Brave New World is a bad place. Maggots are revolting creatures that feed on rotting flesh and turn into flies. It was obvious that John was different to the people of the civilized world, Im claiming the right to be happy, people started to make fun of his way of being, so he escapes to a lighthouse. People want him to whip them. He tries to make them go away but it becomes an orgy porgy, which he joins in. He was so disgusted by what the Brave New World did to him that he consequently hanged himself.

Controversy within Human Resources Research Paper

Controversy within Human Resources - Research Paper Example This essay paper seeks to explore controversial behavior of one human resource manager of a U.S company that sought anonymity to avoid court cases on the ground of defamation (Bach p120). However, not all people disagree with the way he discharges since some professionals believe that he is impartial in his work. Hiring of staff It is the mandate of any human resource department to get new employees for a company. Hiring is due to needs that have risen in operations or gaps that need to be filled either due to resignations, quitting from job, dismissal, promotion and staff getting new jobs in other companies among other reasons. Firing comes in when management cracks the whip on certain undisciplined personnel or unproductive staff. However, this is not implemented with immediate effect but is preceded by series of warnings that are on record. It is done when a company can’t tolerate a certain employee anymore, and the only option remaining to explore is firing. In the company under scrutiny here, the human resource manager is charged with putting job adverts across, conduct interviews and confirms hiring of any new staff after the process is duly followed (Price p29). Though every job advert put across says that this company is an equal employer and discourages canvassing, this seems to be done differently. An important point to put across here is that the manager in question is a black American and is known to act in favor of management to avoid being reprimanded. Hiring policies in this company have been drafted to favor the company whereby he prefers to hire female employees even though a certain job is more inclined to the masculine gender as opposed to the feminine gender. Not all female applicants go through the full process of hiring since some canvass on the way by the manner of sexual favors to this human resource manager. This is, however, not for applicants who are American citizens since American citizens usually get first priority in any jo b advert regardless of qualifications. No enough reasons can explain why this is done this way yet management does not raise an alarm over his conduct causing employees to conclude that management as well has racial discrimination. Firing of staff Firing, on the other hand, is done in an awkward manner since no due process is put in place to show an employee why he got fired. The policies that this human resource manager found in place were said to be aged and thus the need for change. The change that followed was not practical since many clauses, which sought to strike a balance between Americans and non-Americans were phased out. This was done to make it difficult for non-Americans to get hired in this company and this has happened at the reign of this human resource manager. Several staffs who are not U.S citizens have been fired under undue grounds cited by human resource manager. Staffs are also required to carry with them their national identity cards to show their nationality and make it easier for human resource to do his duty ‘well’. This has led to total controversy and staff unrest and some American staff have even gone ahead and expressed dissatisfaction on the conduct of this human resource manager. Some of the Americans who have complained against his conduct are furnished with strict warnings though they have continued to show solidarity with
